Fundraise for Amala

Enabling others to access vital education can be fun!

Join our community of supporters to help bring transformative education to refugee youth across the globe.

Raising funds from family and friends for your birthday, holding a fundraising event, or taking up a sponsored challenge, are just some of the ways you can make a big difference to the lives of young refugees. You can undertake fundraising challenges drawing upon personal contacts and networks, engaging with colleagues in your workplace, or creating a fundraising group within your school or challenge.

Plan your own fundraiser for Amala and support us to continue the work we do!

Here is how to get started:

1. Choose an activity or challenge

You can raise funds by:

  • Asking for donations for an upcoming birthday, wedding or other special event

  • Signing yourself up to a sponsored challenge event - a group or individual challenge!

  • Hosting a quiz (we have a great example here you can use here), inviting donations to participate and securing donated prizes for quiz winners

  • Putting on an Amala lunch, engage your friends to bring along food, ask for donations to join in

  • Nominating Amala as your chosen charity partner at your school, university or place of work

2. Set up a fundraising page

Create your very own Amala Just Giving page. Add your photo and a description of your activity and why you have chosen to support Amala. If you want, you can also set a fundraising target so others know what you are aiming for.

You can set up a fundraiser on Facebook or raise money on Instagram by adding donation stickers to posts and stories.

3. Share your page with friends and your community

You can get the word out about your activity through social media, Whatsapp/text message or email. You can tag Amala, so we can see your activity and help you create visibility.

We are happy to help you as you plan your activity and fundraising campaign, so please do not hesitate to drop us an email if you want to discuss your ideas.

Tips:

  • Don’t be shy about getting the word out there about what you are doing

  • Timing activities around special days can help raise awareness and funds - for example, around World Refugee Day or International Day of Education

Emily Bryson, English language teaching specialist, found out about Amala through the Teaching through Crisis - a series of Facebook live events - that she was working on for National Geographic Learning. Emily was inspired by Amala’s work and decided to raise funds for us by cycling from Glasgow to Belfast.

The international TEFL conference that Emily was attending was a cycle of almost 300 miles. She raised 275% of her target, a sum of over £2000! Emily’s epic cycle helped to fund Amala’s mission to bring transformational learning to refugee youth.
