Expanding transformative education: Amala’s 2025 Impact Report
2025 marked a year of extraordinary growth at Amala - we are delighted to share it with you in our latest Impact Report.
Amala reached more than double the number of students than we did in 2024. 2486 young people - from Thailand to Kalobeyei Settlement in Kenya, from Amman to Nigeria - took part in one of our transformative education programmes.
Thank you to everyone who engaged with our work this year, and to our supporters, partners and volunteers who made it all possible.
Some key highlights from the report include:
Expanding through partnerships: we revised our partner authorisation model to enable the Global Secondary Diploma to be run with partners for the first time, reaching young people in Kalobeyei Settlement, Kenya, and a new area for Amala - Mae Sot, Northern Thailand.
40% of learners were female, a 5% increase from 2024. In Kakuma, for example, targeted interventions— including mentoring, transport stipends and dignity kits— significantly improved female learner retention. This builds on our ongoing efforts to reduce barriers to participation.
Global Secondary Diploma reach doubled, with 397 learners this year, compared with 175 in 2024. We assured the quality remained high through centring continuous improvement and maintaining strong educator-to-student ratios.
We strengthened our organisational capacity. This year, 59 educators were trained in delivering transformative education across 8 countries. Our team grew from 23 to 36, including new GSD educators and senior leadership roles in finance and partnerships to support sustainable growth.
